IRIS MSME

Dear Readers,

Trade opportunities, business funding, new government initiatives, and payment recovery all moved a step forward this June.

Indian exporters gained continued access to European markets, along with duty-free trade across most goods entering Oman. At the same time, MSMEs saw a series of new government initiatives launched during the MSME Day 2026 – Udyami Bharat event, while our latest webinar explored how businesses can recover delayed payments through MSME Samadhaan. Businesses looking to strengthen cash flow can also continue exploring funding options of up to ₹75 Lakhs through IRIS Peridot.

Along with these developments, we’ve also included the key compliance deadlines for July 2026 to help you plan the month ahead. Here’s everything you need to know before moving into July.

Until next time,
Team IRIS MSME

National Policy & Trade Developments

EU Trade Update: Continued Access for Indian Exporters

The European Union has updated its antimicrobial resistance (AMR) regulations, with India continuing to remain on the approved list of countries permitted to export selected biological products.

This is encouraging news for aquaculture farmers, fish and seafood exporters, honey producers, egg exporters, and animal casing processors. The update keeps India’s seafood and fishery exports to the EU, valued at approximately USD 1.59 billion, on track without any disruption and secures market access beyond September.

Businesses exporting to the EU should continue following the testing, documentation, and residue-control requirements prescribed by the Export Inspection Council (EIC) and the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA).

India–Oman CEPA Comes into Effect

The India–Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) officially came into effect on 1 June 2026, removing import duties on 99.38% of Indian goods entering Oman. For Indian MSMEs, this opens stronger export opportunities across the Gulf region. Businesses dealing in textiles, machinery, agricultural products, electronics, and engineering goods can now benefit from improved price competitiveness in the Omani market.

MSME Day 2026: Spotlight Announcements

To mark International MSME Day on 27 June 2026, the Ministry of MSME launched a new suite of digital initiatives during the “MSME Day 2026 – Udyami Bharat” national event in New Delhi. These initiatives aim to simplify government processes, improve access to credit, expand market opportunities, and make MSME services more accessible through a connected digital ecosystem.

🔹SAMADHAAN 2.0 Portal: An upgraded platform that enables MSMEs to report and track outstanding dues owed by Central Ministries, Departments, Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), and other government agencies. The portal also introduces a mandatory monthly reporting system to improve the monitoring of pending public sector payments and encourage timely settlement of dues.

🔹PMEGP 2.0 Portal: The updated Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) portal is now integrated with the Jan Samarth Portal, enabling real-time data exchange with participating banks. This integration is expected to speed up loan processing, sanctions, and direct disbursements for eligible applicants.

🔹PMS Portal (Procurement and Marketing Support): Linked directly with Udyam Registration, the upgraded portal allows MSMEs to apply online for trade fairs, exhibition participation, and eligible government reimbursement claims through a single digital platform. The application process is now paperless, simpler, and easier to manage.

🔹MSME Global Mart 2.0 Portal: Integrated with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), this upgraded digital commerce and trade facilitation platform helps MSMEs connect with buyers across domestic and international markets, making it easier to expand their market reach and discover new business opportunities.

🔹MSME Testing Portal: A new end-to-end digital platform that simplifies access to testing facilities across the country. MSMEs can submit testing requests online, pay testing fees, track progress, and download certified test reports through a single platform.

🔹MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0: Launched under the MSME Champions Scheme, the latest edition of the hackathon offers financial incubation support of up to ₹15 Lakhs for approved technology and manufacturing ideas, along with dedicated mentorship to help innovators develop their concepts.

🔹AI Multilingual Support Infrastructure: A new AI-powered support system that provides access to MSME services in all 22 Scheduled Indian languages. It also includes AI-based document translation and voice-enabled grievance registration, making services more accessible for businesses across the country.

🔹KVIC Introduces New Products: The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched a new range of eco-friendly textile products aimed at supporting rural artisans and promoting sustainable livelihoods. The collection features Tukun (handwoven infant wear), Rangtaal (table runners and placemats), Bela (infant wrap sheets), Vanya (Eri silk stoles), and Umang (wool stoles).

Learning Corner: Recovering Delayed Payments Legally

Delayed payments continue to be one of the biggest challenges for MSMEs, affecting cash flow and making it harder to plan business expenses. While many businesses rely on follow-ups to recover their dues, there is also a legal process designed to support MSMEs when payments remain pending.

To help businesses understand how this process works, we hosted a webinar in June focused on MSME Samadhaan. The session explained the legal remedies available under the MSMED Act, when businesses can make use of them, and how the payment recovery process works in practice.

Some of the key highlights from the session included:

  • Understanding the 45-Day Rule: Under the MSMED Act, buyers are required to pay for goods or services within 45 days of acceptance.
  • How MSME Samadhaan Helps: Eligible MSMEs can file delayed payment claims online through the Ministry of MSME’s dedicated Samadhaan portal.
  • Interest on Delayed Payments: Buyers who fail to make payment within the prescribed period are liable to pay interest at three times the RBI bank rate, as provided under the Act.
  • Resolving Payment Disputes: Learn how Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Councils (MSEFCs) help settle disputes through conciliation and arbitration before they move to court.
