What changed?

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has expanded the ‘Source from India’ feature on the Trade Connect platform to include eligible DPIIT-recognised startups. These startups can now create dedicated digital microsites to showcase their products and services to overseas buyers through the Government’s official buyer discovery platform. Eligible startups will also receive a Start-up Badge, making them easier for international buyers to identify.

Special boost for early-stage exporters:

To encourage more startups to enter global markets, DPIIT-recognised startups with an active Import Export Code (IEC) that is not on the Denied Entity List can join the platform even if they do not yet meet the standard export performance criteria.

Why it matters for MSMEs/startups:

Trade Connect gives startups a government-backed platform to improve their visibility before international buyers. By making it easier to showcase products and connect with overseas markets, the initiative can help early-stage exporters take their first steps towards global trade.
