The Central Government has extended the import duty exemption on raw cotton (HS 5201) till 31st December 2025. The exemption, which was earlier valid from 19th August 2025 to 30th September 2025, has been prolonged to ensure adequate availability of cotton and support exporters in the textile industry.
This move is expected to ease raw material costs for textile MSMEs, providing relief to spinning mills, weavers, and garment manufacturers.
